February 8, Kathmandu. The pharmaceutical industry, Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited, has commenced operations in Nepal with investments from non-resident Nepalis.


During a special event held on Monday in Kathmandu, the President of the Representative Assembly, Devraj Ghimire, officially inaugurated Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals.


Expressing delight at the commitment of Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals to produce medicines in Nepal according to European standards for Nepali consumers, Ghimire highlighted the significant progress made in the pharmaceutical production sector in Nepal over the past two and a half decades. He noted that Nepal is lagging far behind in terms of pharmaceutical production and market management compared to developed countries.


Ghimire also mentioned that just a week ago, the Representative Assembly had passed the 'Amendment Bill, 2080', aimed at revising several laws related to business development, including some related to business promotion.


Narayan Prasad Dhakal, Director General of the Department of Drug Administration, expressed his best wishes, stating that the future of the quality domestic pharmaceutical industry looks promising.


Arjun Kumar Shrestha, Chairman of Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited, stated that their primary responsibility is to establish direct access to quality medicines for the public and to move forward with a concrete export plan.


Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited has initiated operations with an investment of over 1.5 billion rupees, and its production plant is located in Jugedi, Chitwan.
