Nepal's second defeat against Namibia


 On Falgun 9th, in Kathmandu, Nepal faced a second defeat against Namibia in the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two. In the match held on Wednesday, Namibia defeated Nepal by 2 wickets. Namibia won the toss and chose to field, giving Nepal the opportunity to bat first. Openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh made a good start for Nepal. However, in the seventh over, Nepal lost two wickets. In the second ball of the seventh over, Bernard Scholtz dismissed Bhurtel (18) caught LBW, while Anil Kumar Sah (0) was caught behind by Wicketkeeper, Nicol Loftie-Eaton, off the fourth ball. Nepal added another 5 runs before Dev Khadka was also dismissed for a duck. Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Malla then combined to advance Nepal's innings. They shared a 57-run partnership for the fourth wicket, taking Nepal's score to 100. Aasif completed a half-century during the innings. However, in the 20th over, Scholtz once again dismissed Aasif caught LBW, ending his innings. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel was out for a duck after playing 9 balls. Although Bhim Sarki and Kushal Malla showed signs of partnership, Sarki was caught in the fine leg boundary by Smit and Kots off the third ball of the 27th over. With an additional 44 runs, Nepal lost the remaining 4 wickets, and they were all out for 168 runs in 37.1 overs.


In response to the target of 169 runs set by Nepal, Namibia's start was not very good. However, with just 10 runs added, opener Niko Davin (8) was run out, and then Rohit Kumar Paudel took the wicket of JP Kotze, adding another 7 runs. But Michael Van Lingen and Gerhard Erasmus played a crucial partnership for the third wicket, scoring 52 runs. Kushal Malla took Van Lingen's wicket in the first ball of the 13th over.


After that, Erasmus couldn't form a significant partnership, but before getting out in the 22nd over, he completed a half-century. He scored 52 runs with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes. Nepal took 3 more wickets, but after JJ Smit's unbeaten 34 runs, Namibia reached the winning target of 169 runs in 40 overs, losing 8 wickets.


For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel took 3 wickets, while Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Kumar Paudel, and Kushal Malla each took one wicket. In the first match of the trilateral series, Nepal lost to Namibia by 4 wickets, and in the second match, they lost to the Netherlands by 9 wickets. Now, Nepal will play against the Netherlands on Sunday.
