On 6th Falgun, in Janakpur, the Chief Minister of Madhesh Pradesh, Saroj Kumar Yadav, is seeking a vote of confidence today.
Following the resignation of two ministers from the Janmat Party on 9th Magh, which led to a withdrawal of support for the Madhesh government, Chief Minister Yadav has initiated the process of seeking a vote of confidence today. Arun Kumar Jha, the Secretary of the Madhesh Pradesh Assembly Secretariat, provided this information, stating that the purpose of seeking the vote of confidence was scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Madhesh Pradesh Assembly.
Chief Minister Yadav had notified the Madhesh Pradesh Assembly Secretariat in writing last Tuesday about his intention to seek a vote of confidence on Sunday.
Yadav was appointed Chief Minister of Madhesh Pradesh on 27th Poush. This is the third time that Yadav has sought a vote of confidence since taking office. Out of the 107 members of the Madhesh Pradesh Assembly, Yadav needs the support of 54 members to secure the vote of confidence. With the support of the Nepali Congress's 22 members, Janmat's 18 members, Maoist Center and RJP's 9-9 members each, and 7 members from the United Socialist, he easily maintains majority support.
The largest party in Madhesh, the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist), has 23 members, while the Janmat Party has 13 members. Additionally, there is one member each from the RPP, Nepal Socialist Party, and Citizens' Liberation Party.
Abhiram Sharma, the leader of the parliamentary group of the Lospar Party, who was sentenced to imprisonment by the Mahottari District Court, is currently on the run.
